The wait is over: Centurions present fourth American
The Cologne Centurions have their backs against the wall in the Southern Conference. Two wins in the first two games were followed by five losses in a row, two of them against direct conference rivals. Especially in the last four games, another US-American was sorely missed in the offense. After parting ways with Tre King after Week 1, the Cologne team was left without a new U.S. import. Now the cathedral city announced the signing of running back Joshua „MackAttack“ Mack.
Mack, who wears sports glasses, attended Pittsford-Mendon High School in New York State. He began his collegiate career in 2016 at the University of Maine, where he earned multiple honors after outstanding performances. Nevertheless, he later transferred to the Liberty Flames in NCAA Division I. There, he excelled in his last three years as an every-down back with 2042 yards for 14 touchdowns as well as winning various bowl games.
The art and design enthusiast started his professional career this year with the Marburg Mercenaries in the GFL. In five games he scored 362 rushing as well as 66 receiving yards for a total of one touchdown. Now he decided to make a move to the Centurions in the European League of Football. He is the first former finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given annually to the most outstanding offensive player in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision who plays in the ELF.
Can the Centurions turn things around?
With the signing of Mack, the Centurions still hope to turn things around. With five losses already, things could be tight, but there is still a small chance of a playoffs appearance. Recently, opponents have been able to adjust well to the Air Raid offense, but Mack adds another element to the dangerous attack. In addition, the defense improved greatly against Rhein Fire. It will definitely be important to get the running game rolling. Dean Tanwani currently leads the team statistics with 178 rushing yards, ahead of backup QB Alex Frisch (111) and Toby Nick with 88 rushing yards.

Die Cologne Centurions stehen in der Southern Conference mit dem Rücken zur Wand. Zwei Auftaktsiegen folgten fünf Niederlagen in Serie, zwei davon gegen direkte Conference-Rivalen. Besonders in den letzten vier Spielen wurde dabei ein weiterer US-Amerikaner in der Offense schmerzlich vermisst. Nachdem man sich nach Week 1 von Tre King getrennt hatte, waren die Kölner ohne neuen neuen US-Import verblieben. Nun gaben die Domstädter die Verpflichtung von Running Back Joshua „MackAttack“ Mack bekannt.

Gelingt den Centurions die Wende?
Mit der Verpflichtung von Mack erhoffen sich die Centurions noch den Turnaround zu schaffen. Mit fünf Niederlagen könnte es bereits eng werden, doch noch besteht eine Chance auf eine Playoffs-Teilnahme. Zuletzt konnten sich die Gegner gut auf die Air-Raid-Offense einstellen, doch mit Mack bekommt der gefährliche Angriff ein weiteres Element. Zudem steigerte sich die Defensive gegen Rhein Fire stark. Wichtig wird es definitiv sein, das Laufspiel ins Rollen zu bringen. Aktuell führt Dean Tanwani mit 178 Rushing Yards vor Backup-QB Alex Frisch (111) und Toby Nick mit 88 Rushing Yards die teaminterne Statistik an.
